In my opinion, bridals are some of the most underrated photoshoots out there. I’m not talking about the photos that you take on your wedding day of you in your dress, I mean a photoshoot specifically designated for special bridal photos. Lets talk about your options and why I love them so much, shall we?
First reason why a bridal photo session is awesome is, when you plan it correctly, it’s a great opportunity to try out your wedding day makeup, hair and your wedding dress before the big day. You get to dress up in your wedding gear more than once! And then not only do you get a chance to see how everything photographs, you also get to have formal bridal portraits available at your wedding.
While a bridal session is typically just for the bride, there is always the option of doing your “first look” and then all of your formal bridal portraits with both bride and groom. This is a typical option for those who are not able to have photography during their ceremonies/marriages. For instance, I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and our wedding ceremonies are held inside of one of the many LDS Temples where photography is not allowed. My husband and I opted to take photos with each other at my bridal session for that reason. We had wonderful print outs of us in our wedding for the wedding AND it leads me to my next point…
It takes just a little bit of stress away on your wedding day. Especially if you decide to do formal portraits with each other at the bridal session, then there is less pressure to make sure you get everything on the day of the wedding and if you’d rather enjoy the party than take photos that’s probably the option for you. Even if it is just the bride who comes for bridals, having a “practice run” often helps the nerves of the day go down and excitement go up!
Lastly, and probably my favorite reason, is that there is usually a lot more time and a lot more opportunity for creativity. Getting into the flow of a really creative shoot, having a bit more control over when and where we take photos, and having the freedom to do some ideas that we might not have the opportunity to the day of is my favorite reason to have a bridal session. It’s also a great opportunity for me to connect even better with you pre-wedding and help you feel amazing with some great photos.
If you’re on the fence about doing a bridal session I hope I’ve been able to sway you! And if not, email me and lets talk about it further. 😉
